Ride-hailing giant Lyft Inc. is partnering with AAA to give the insurance giant’s customers free rides to and from affiliated repair shops.
The program is being launched in six states across the U.S. AAA customers can request the service through Lyft’s concierge unit, whether or not they have the Lyft app or even own a smartphone.
Customers currently can arrange complimentary shuttle rides from AAA Car Care Centers. But the group says Lyft can provide faster and more efficient service.
AAA and Lyft also are evaluating several other joint initiatives. One of them is a pilot program launched last year that offers AAA customers credits to use for Lyft rides while their vehicles are being serviced.
This summer Lyft partnered with CDK Global Inc. to offer rides to and from dealership service centers. The program is expected to reduce customer wait times, while boosting dealership throughput and reducing costs associated with shuttle vans and loaner cars.
