Recogni Inc., a Silicon Valley-based developer of high-speed sensor fusion processors for autonomous vehicles, has attracted $25 million in Series A funding.
First-round investors include BMW, DNS Capital, Faurecia, GreatPoint, Osram and Toyota.
Founded in 2018, Recogni claims its artificial intelligence platform is faster and more precise than other systems, and consumes less power. The company says its processors can detect and classify objects within 16 milliseconds in city settings and within 8 milliseconds on the highway.
The technology can identify small objects—such as traffic lights—from more than 200 m (660 ft) away in real time, according to Recogni. It says its imaging software also can determine the color of the traffic light.
