BMW AG says it will recall 324,000 diesel-powered cars in Europe to repair a defect that has caused at least 27 engine-compartment fires in South Korea, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung reports.
The new campaign includes 96,300 vehicles in Germany, according to the newspaper.
BMW has said that the cause of the problem is a flawed exhaust gas recirculation module that can fail after the vehicle is driven for long distances at relatively high speeds. Last week the problem prompted the company to recall 106,300 of its diesels in dozens of models in Korea to fix the problem.
