BMW AG has agreed to supply twin-turbocharged gasoline and diesel engines to Ineos Automotive Ltd. for use in an upcoming off-road vehicle.

The carmaker expects to deliver nearly 10,000 units under the program over an unspecified time period. BMW says the contract is part of the company’s efforts to expand sales to industrial and non-traditional automotive customers.

Founded in 2016, London-based Ineos Automotive aims to launch its Projekt Grenadier 4x4 vehicle in 2021. Ineos describes the model as a no-frills utility vehicle inspired early Willys Jeep, Land Rover Defender and Toyota Land Cruiser off-roaders. The company is part of the Ineos Group, a global manufacturer of chemical, oil and gas products.
