Robert Bosch GmbH is spending £8 million ($10 million) to acquire a 4% stake a British developer of next-generation solid oxide fuel cells.
Horsham,U.K.-based Ceres Power Holdings plc is developing the system, dubbed SteelCell, to function as a stationary charging unit for electric vehicles.
The two companies have been working together since January through a joint development agreement to develop 5-kW fuel cell stacks based on next-generation SteelCell technology. Ceres describes its system as more reliable, efficient and cost-effective than alternative architectures.
