Guangxi Yuchai Machinery Co. Ltd. has signed a strategic partnership agreement to supply China’s Foton Motor Group with next-generation gasoline, diesel and natural gas engines, electrified powertrains and fuel cell systems.

The new powertrain technologies will be used in a range of passenger, commercial and off-road vehicles, including light-duty pickup trucks, medium- and heavy-duty trucks, buses and construction vehicles. GMYCL is part of China Yuchai International Ltd., and Foton is a subsidiary of the Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Co.

In addition to operating in China, the partners plan to develop products for other unspecified markets in coming years.

Founded in 1951, GYMCL says it has 11 engine series (100 hp to 600 hp) that are compliant with China’s new VI emissions standards. The company introduced new hybrid and fuel cell technologies earlier this year.
