Aiways, a Shangrao City, China-based startup, plans to unveil its U5 SUV/crossover and fuel cell-powered RG Nathalie supercar at the Geneva auto show in March.

The midsize U5 will feature an “innovative” body construction, connectivity and other advanced technologies, according to the carmaker. The vehicle is expected to compete against the new Audi e-Tron and Mercedes-Benz EQC crossover EVs.

The €400,000 Nathalie (pictured) will team four 137-hp electric motors with a methanol fuel cell stack in place of a traditional proton-exchange-membrane unit. Aiways says the vehicle will have a range of 530 miles and can zip from zero to 62 mph in 2.5 seconds on its way to a top speed of 190 mph.

Aiways was founded in 2017 by former Audi, Beijing Automotive, FAW, Foton, SAIC and Volvo executives. The company was capitalized at 13.3 billion yuan ($2 billon) and employs 1,100 people.
