Daimler Drops ForTwo Minicar in U.S., Canada

Daimler AG confirms it will stop selling its slow-selling ForTwo city car in the U.S. and Canada this autumn when the 2019 model year ends.
Last year Daimler’s Mercedes-Benz brand dropped the piston-powered version of the slow-selling ForTwo in North America and began offering it as an all-electric car. But demand for the two-seater continues to shrink, dropping to fewer than 1,300 units in the 2018 model year.
Mercedes will continue to service the cars and sell repair parts. Some ForTwos also will remain in Daimler’s Car2go car-sharing service, which merged with BMW AG’s DriveNow, ParkNow and ChargeNow businesses in February.
