Ford Motor Co.’s Argo AI unit has begun testing third-generation automated cars in Detroit.
The company is testing its latest autonomous control system in an unspecified number of Ford Fusion hybrid sedans in and around the downtown area. Argo President Peter Rander says the latest iteration of its technology uses a faster and more powerful computing system, redundant braking and steering.
Detroit presents Argo’s test vehicles the most complex mix of road design, driving behavior, traffic light placement and lane markings encountered to date, according to Rander.
