Online car-shopping and financing service AutoGravity Corp. has hired former Mercedes-Benz executive Alex Mallmann to be its new president and CEO.

He succeeds founder Andy Hinrichs, who left AutoGravity in May to pursue other interests.

Mallmann most recently was president and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Auto Finance China. He joined Daimler AG’s Mercedes-Benz operations in Brazil in 1998. He later held senior executive positions with the company throughout the Americas and Europe.

AutoGravity also named Jason Bonifay to succeed Sheng Wang as chief technology officer. Bonifay joined the company in May as vice president of engineering after holding executive positions with CDK Global.

AutoGravity’s platform enables customers to shop online for vehicles at local dealers and get pre-approved financing from as many as four lenders. The platform manages an inventory of more than 1.5 million vehicles and serves some 2 million users.
