GM, Bechtel Aim to Build EV Fast-Charge Network in U.S.

General Motors Co. and construction giant Bechtel Corp. plan a partnership to build a network across the U.S. of fast-charge stations for electric vehicles.
Details of the business are still being finalized, and the two companies are looking for investors to fund the project. The partners aim to build thousands of the quick-charge facilities.
GM says the aim of the partnership is to combine Bechtel’s expertise in engineering, construction and permits with the carmaker’s proprietary data about EV usage to locate charging facilities where they would provide maximum convenience for EV owners. GM has said it intends to introduce 20 EV models by 2023.
The companies say the network they envision would be along major highway and in urban centers.
