Alphabet Inc.’s Google Map unit is adding information about electric vehicle charging stations, including location and directions.
The app is being launched this week worldwide for Android and Apple smartphones. Availability for laptops and other devices will be added later this year.
Users can search for keywords such as “EV charging” to display nearby charging stations, including those operated by Blink, Chargefox, Chargemaster, Chargepoint, EVgo, Pod Point, SemaConnect and Tesla’s Supercharger outlets. The app also provides information about the business where the station is located, the types of ports available, charging speeds and the number of available ports.
Drivers can further use Google Maps to view related information posted by other users, including photos, ratings, reviews and questions. Businesses can provide links to additional information about the chargers.
