Half the cars Volkswagen AG sells in China will be electrified by 2035, says CEO Herbert Diess.
The company plans to offer 14 hybrid or all-electric models in China this year. By 2028, VW expects to have produced 22 million electrified vehicles, including 11.6 million units made in China. VW’s joint ventures with FAW, JAC and SAIC operate 33 production facilities in China.
To support their electrification push, VW, FAW and JAC have partnered with Star Charge, a Changzhou-based maker of charging systems, to install an unspecified number of private and public charging units in multiple cities in China.
