Hyundai Doubles Up on Electric Bus

Hyundai Motor Co. unveiled a double-decker electric bus at this week’s Transport Technology fair in Seoul.
The vehicle is powered by a 384-kWh, water-cooled lithium-ion battery. Hyundai says the battery provides a driving range of 300 km (186 miles) and can be fully recharged slight more than one hour.
Measuring nearly 43 ft long and more than 13 ft tall, the double-decker bus can carry 70 passengers.
In addition to the electric drivetrain, the bus is equipped with four-wheel steering, vehicle dynamic control, lane-keeping assist and forward collision-avoidance technology. The latter uses a front-facing camera to help detect an imminent collision and automatically brake the vehicle to avoid impact or minimize damage.
