LG Touts 5G Module

Emerging fifth-generation cellular communication systems are considered a key enabling technology for autonomous and connected vehicles. High-speed 5G networks allow for real-time sharing of traffic information, precise location detection and the transmission of more data than current 4G LTE systems with one-tenth the latency.

Innotek’s module integrates 480 components, including a communication chip, memory, radio frequency circuit and cellular-V2X system. The device can be mounted inside or outside the passenger cabin in the same space as a 4G module.
Innotek says the module teams advanced plastic materials with a new coating and hardening process to provide greater heat resistance needed with 5G networks. The material is less sensitive to temperature changes, according to the supplier.
A proprietary RF circuit design and density modularized technology is used to handle the high frequency bands and increased data transmission.
