Japan’s transport ministry says Mazda, Suzuki and Yamaha submitted years of false test results for fuel economy and exhaust emissions.
Nearly half the cars tested by Suzuki between 2012 and 2018 involved falsified data, according to the ministry.
The findings are based on the ministry’s review of internal investigations of test procedures by 20 Japanese vehicle manufacturers. The analysis was prompted by the discovery earlier this year of falsified emission and efficiency data by Nissan and Subaru.
