Ohio Breaks Ground on Test Center for Autonomous Vehicles

The Transportation Research Center (TRC) in East Liberty, Ohio, has broken ground on the SmartCenter for autonomous and connected vehicles.
An urban course with reconfigurable intersections, roundabouts and other designs will be added later. The center will be supported by a 10,000-sq-ft control building and garage, an underground power distribution and fiber network, dedicated-short-range communication and high-speed wireless capabilities.
Funding for the $45 million project is being provided by several Ohio government agencies and Ohio State University.
