Ram 1500 Named “Green Truck” of the Year

Fiat Chrysler Automobile NV’s Ram 1500 pickup truck has been named 2019 Green Truck of the Year in the U.S. by Green Car Journal.
The fullsize Ram 1500 beat out four other pick pickups for the title: the Chevrolet Colorado, Chevrolet Silverado, Ford F-150 and Ford Ranger. The contenders were evaluated by Green Car Journal editors and other industry experts in terms of their environmental attributes, performance, safety, versatility, value and styling.
The panel hailed the Ram for its eTorque mild hybrid system, which is mated to the truck’s 3.6-liter V-6 and 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 engines. The feature teams an integrated motor-generator and 48-volt battery to enable automatic stop-start, regenerative braking and short torque boosts.
