Chinese internet giant Tencent Holdings Ltd. is creating its own team of experts in self-driving-car technology in Silicon Valley, Reuters reports.

Tencent—better known for its expertise in gaming, music streaming and social media platform WeChat —is using LinkedIn to seek candidates in such fields as behavior prediction, machine learning, motion control and sensor fusion.

The company began investing in EV companies for two years. It moved into the autonomous vehicle sector last year by partnering with Guangzhou Automobile Group to develop connectivity services for cars.
