Tesla Inc. says it will turn to Chinese investors to fund most of the $5 billion electric car and battery complex it plans to build in the country.
Tesla said last month it intends to erect the giant facility with initial capacity to make 250,000 EVs per year. Output could eventually double.
The company said on Wednesday it expects to begin construction by late this year but won’t need to make significant initial investment in the project until 2019.
