Toyota Readies Corporate Car-Sharing Tests in Europe

Toyota Motor Corp. plans to launch a car-sharing service for corporate customers in Copenhagen and Madrid next spring, The Nikkei reports.
The service will employ a variant of the latest Yuko platform Toyota is using to provide shared-vehicle service for individual customers in Hawaii. An earlier form of Yuko supports similar services in Ireland and Italy.
In Europe, the system will enable a company’s employees to use shared cars for business purposes simply by reserving one with a smartphone app. Employees also will be able to rent fleet cars after hours on an individual basis.
Toyota will initially deploy 100 cars in Copenhagen and 65 in Madrid, according to The Nikkei. It says the fleets eventually will be expanded to 250 and 100 vehicles, respectively.
