President Donald Trump has again urged General Motors Co. to either sell or reopen its assembly plant in Lordstown, Ohio, as soon as possible.

President Donald Trump has again urged General Motors Co. to either sell or reopen its assembly plant in Lordstown, Ohio, as soon as possible.
“Get it open now,” he declared yesterday as he toured a booming Army tank factory in nearby Lima. “Don’t wait.” GM tells Bloomberg News it has received inquiries and will consider any “truly viable” offers.
GM ended production of slow-selling Chevrolet Cruze small sedans at the Lordstown facility earlier this month and has not assigned a new vehicle program to the plant.
Reopening the factory would help Trump meet a campaign promise to add jobs in the region. But GM has said that the ultimate fate of the Lordstown facility will be made on economic grounds through contract negotiations between the company and the United Auto Workers union.
