U.S. Investigates Uber for Gender Bias
Ride-hailing giant Uber Technologies Inc. is being investigated for possible gender discrimination in such areas as hiring practices and pay rates.

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunities Commission is interviewing current and past employees and asking for company documents, The Wall Street Journal reports. The commission declines to confirm the charges or its related activities.
EEOC launched its probe last August, according to the Journal. That’s when Uber founder and CEO Travis Kalanick was forced out and was replaced by Dara Khosrowshahi, who vowed to fix what was widely described as a dysfunctional corporate culture.
Last week, Uber HR chief Liane Hornsey resigned amid allegations that she shrugged off instances of racial discrimination at the company.
