The Apollo initiative is developing a suite of open-source features for self-driving vehicles that includes an operating system, cloud-based connectivity services and “reference” hardware.
The alliance was launched in June 2017 to speed the implementation of automated vehicles and compete against proprietary operating systems being developed others, including Alphabet Inc.’s Waymo unit.
