Volvo Car Corp. plans to recall some 507,000 vehicles worldwide whose diesel engines are equipped with a plastic intake manifold that could melt and cause a fire, Bloomberg News reports.
The company says it is not aware of any crashes or injuries resulting from the issue. Owners are being advised that their vehicles are safe to use pending an inspection unless drivers detect an odd odor, experience engine problems or see that the engine warning lamp has illuminated.
The global campaign will cover 2014-2019 model sedans, wagons and crossover vehicles powered by 2.0-liter diesels. Affected models are S60, S80 and S90 sedans; V40, V60, V70 and V90 wagons; and XC60 and XC90 crossovers.
