VW May Invest in Ford EV Unit

Ford Motor Co. and Volkswagen AG are close to agreement on a plan to collaborate on electric and autonomous vehicles, sources tell Bloomberg News.
The sources say VW also may invest in Argo AI LLC, the Pittsburgh-based autonomous vehicle tech startup which Ford acquired in February 2017 for $1 billion.
The two carmakers announced in June that they were in talks about a broad range of collaborations covering everything from technology and products to shared manufacturing operations. The companies have since indicated the discussions have been progressing well.
Last week VW CEO Herbert Diess raised the possibility of Ford using VW’s “MEB” vehicle platform, which was developed specifically for electric vehicles, for its own EVs.
