ZF Friedrichshafen AG and Chinese tech giant Baidu Inc. have announced plans to work together to develop technologies related to autonomous vehicles, telematics and other new-mobility systems in China.
The partners expect to benefit by teaming Baidu’s expertise in artificial intelligence, big data and cloud-based service systems with ZF’s ProAI processor and overall vehicle systems capabilities. This will enable information to be integrated from a variety of sources to improve performance.
ZF, which developed the ProAI system with chipmaker Nvidia Corp., has announced several partnerships and acquisitions in the last year related to autonomous vehicles. This includes recent agreements with Faurecia and Hella.
Baidu also is working with a range of partners. In April, Baidu and Nvidia launched the “Project Apollo,” a cloud-to-car open platform to help aid the development of autonomous vehicle technologies.
