ZF Friedrichshafen AG and Hella KGaA Hueck & Co. have formed a nonexclusive partnership to develop sensors and systems for driver aid features and autonomous vehicles.
The strategic alliance pairs Hella’s software and advanced sensor technologies—notably cameras, imaging and radar devices—with ZF’s sensors and systems integration expertise. The partners note that Hella’s 360° surround radar system and ZF’s mid- and long-range radar products offer a comprehensive package.
Hella and ZF say their first program will involve forward-looking camera systems expected to be widely adopted in Europe over the next several years. Longer-term projects will include camera systems for automated driving for passenger, commercial and off-highway applications.
